Hey guys I need some help my steering on my boat has gotten pretty bad it's really lose and sloppy and sometime it's just hard to turn. Someone pointed out that one of my seals looks to be leaking and I am losing fluid. Would that be hard to fix or should I get someone to do it? Any help tips or advise would be greatly appreciated!

Another question I have is on a jack plate is it enough to hand tighten the bolts on the jack plate it's self as tight as I can by hand or do I need to torque it? I've noticed mine are lose. Thanks guys

I would let a marine dealer look at the steering.

As for the plate, I just give mine a good tug with a closed wrench. Good and tight...

Check bolts in steering system attaching to outboard, also check & make sure none are missing from jackplate to outboard mounts......Steering seals really no problem if mechanically inclined........ emoGeezer emoUSA

Seals are easy, just follow the directions. Make sure you bleed it real good. I just kept turning mine back and forth to bleed.

On that jack plate:

If your bolts keep backing off, take them out one at a time and put a drop
of blue thread lock on each one and tighten them down tight by hand.

You can pick up a bottle of it at any autoparts store or ACE hardware.

Make sure it's blue !

After bleeding it really good and replacing the seals it is perfect better than when I first got it. As for the jack plate it was just a little lose fixed good now. Jeff Wallace in Cleveland is one awesome guy! Can fix anything
