the seat post for the front seat broke yesterday evening when I got out for a couple of hours. The weld around the ring mounted on the base broke and I fell into the floor of the boat. It was a tough trip on the boat! Anyone have suggestions for fixing it or would I be better off to just replace the mount?

Depends on the mount. Some are cheap and some are VERY expensive. If it can be welded, give rodbuilder2 (Rudy) a call. He is a very good welder.

Here is a picture of what I am talking about.

Craig, I would think you would be better off just getting a new base. If it broke there once it will surely be weaker the second go round. I would just get a new one and be on the safe side.

Yea, Rudy can fix it. His handle of Rodbuilder is not fishing rods...it is hot rods. He can build a car from scratch. He can weld anything. Get in touch with him and he can fix it for you. emoAngel Jmax

It looks like one you can purchase at Wal-Mart for around $16 - $18. I had one welded once but it was ugly and wound up buying a new one at Wal-Mart.

Only prob with welding that .. the nylon insert will have to come out or will melt..
