Selling Boat on EBay

On a large sale you have to contend with a huge ebay fee, if Paypal is involved in the transaction even more fees will be levied. You might be as well off just to reduce the boat price by that much and sell it locally.

Try all the free sites before one that you will have to pay fees as mentioned. List it here, on bassboatcentral.com, GON forum (forum.gon.com), craigslist, etc. I would try all of those before somewhere that you will have to pay to sell it.

Thats true...their fees really mount up. I sold several Cardinal 4 reels....thru that place on Bonny Oaks....I MIGHT have ended up with 1/2 the sold amount. I will never use that outfit again. If you know an individual that can help....you will be ahead of the game.

I have used all these mentioned sites before, and the mist traffic I got by far was from Craig's list. I seemed to get more hits from the Birmingham Craig's list than the Chattanooga one though.

I sold a boat on ebay and have also bought a boat on ebay. the one i sold was my first boat. an older stratos. i had redone nearly everything on it. tried to sell it in the paper and just had guys wasting my time. so i put it on ebay. it sold for like $6k (which is what i was asking). i think it cost $80 in ebay fees. i spent more than that on running it in the classifieds of the times free press.
i would list everything you have on it and then list every single flaw you can think of and put up tons of pics. thats what i did. i had nothing to hide. i sold it to a guy that had just gotten his tax returns. i had the motor rebuilt and had the vro pump removed a month or two before. so you had to mix the oil and gas. i told him that and he wouldnt even let me explain the ratios or anything. he knew everything about boats he said. a few days later his wife called me and told me she went out in the boat and how great it ran and how happy they were. then he calls me several days later raising hell. says he blew up the motor. i said well when your wife took it out the other day did she add oil to the gas when she refilled it. the phone just went dead silent for a minute. I never heard back from him, but he did leave me bad feedback. emoLaugh

I`ve sold a jeep a car and a boat on ebay. All three brought far more than I could have got locally. In fact they brought more than I would have priced them, but the econmy was much better then.
