Hangnmoss and I headed over to the Sequatchie River after work Friday to do a little wade fishing. Thats right, wading the Sequatchie River this time of year. Shows you how little rain we have had. Normally we don't start wading until late May or June. We fished for about 2 hours and each caught 6 or 8 red eye and a couple of small large mouth and small mouth.

I went back to a different area late Saturday and again caught several red eye. I did manage to catch a nice small mouth, about 12 inches. Lots of fun on ultra light tackle.

You don't catch any monsters fishing the Sequatchie but it is good excercise and very relaxing. The best part is I did not burn any gas. I have not had the boat out since early March, mainly because of family obligations, but as gas prices continue to rise, I will be doing a lot more wading and less boating.

Great report,Thanks. I'm with you on the gas prices emoAngry maybe i should go back to a flat bottom with a tiller handle 20 hp motor. I could go from Soddy creek to Richland creek in Dayton and back on 6 gallons of gas.

Hello Fishintenn.
I enjoy that type of fishing very much. Thanks for that report.

Have you ever waded and fished Cane Creek in the valley between Spencer and Falls Creek Falls Park? That is my favorite place to wade. That is with the exception of The Lower Caney Fork. Cane Creek is the perfect size to wade. There are holes way too deep to wade however most of the creek is less than waist deep. Plenty LM, SM and Redeye Bass several types of Panfish, Trout and even an occasional Muskie. There are several other types of fish is there near the lower end where it meets the Upper Caney Fork. I go over there this time of the year and catch a limit of Trout, Ice them down and then fish for the many big Bass. The Bass in those streams are nothing like lake Bass. They are super smart. You must stalk then and hide. I wear camo in order to get within casting range. As you may know, when you hook one of those clear creek bass the fight of your life is ON.. The coloration of those Smallmouth and all the fish you catch are awsome.

Now I have myself all worked up wanting to go do that.
