Went to one of my local ponds with my Brother Tuesday Evening. The bass were kinda slow until 45 minutes before dark, and started hitting top water. My brother caught a nice 3 1/2 to 4 lber on a frog and I missed several on the same bait on the opposite side of the pond. He wanted a picture and as I always have a disposable camere in my bag I was glad to oblidge. The only problem was the flash wouldn't come on!!!So no picture for him.We decided to try smallmouth fishing Wed. morning on the sequatchie river in southern Bledsoe Co. for the first time. As usual , my brother had to show out and caught the only smallie of the trip, (I hooked one but lost it). Well, to make a long story short, he releases it before we thought to take any pictures of itLOL.He went home to Dayton wed. afternoon. About an hour before dark I returned to the pond to try to find my flippers I used with my floatboat over a week earlier, and took my poles with me. This was about 50 Yards from where he caught the nice one the night before. I put a redworm on with a floater and let it sit near a fencerow and started throwing a Spittin' Image . Had 2 blow up at it but missed them. Meanwhile I caght 5 Bull gills (more than a hand size)..I switched to a Baby Torpedo Mike gave me a while back. Ive never used before so I was trying various retrives. Threw Parrellel to the bank about 5 feet out in a foot and a half of water and caught a nice 2 lber. By now it was getting pretty dark and I couldnt see it too well but decided to throw one or two more times. I casted and twitched it once and one smacked it, Set the hook and it swam right at me..and I thought it was a small one...until she decided to jump! Anyway I landed it .and it weighed 5.7Lbs.! I got my scales out and there was my Phony camera next to them so I hit the flash button and lo and behold the flash was working again and I got several Pictures of it.As soon as I got home I couldnt resist getting on the phone immediatly and called Mike to tell him about it LOL!!!

Great report.... it would be better if you'd tell me which pond. emoBigsmile emoBigsmile My Mom used to live on Dayton Mountain and we had some great pond fishing (and frog gigging) trips up there. Good memories. Thanks for taking me back.

GREAT REPORT TNHEADHUNTER. I MYSELF FLOAT THE SEQ,FOR THE SMALLIES AND RED EYE. BUT HAVEN'T BEEN THIS YEAR I'M ORIGINALLY FROM THAT AREA BUT MOVED ABOUT 12 OR SO YEARS AGO TO RED BANK. WE USED TO WADE OR FLOAT IT ALL THE TIME. WHEN I STILL LIVED OVER THERE' SO BETTER LUCK NEXT TRIP!

I miss wading the creeks too. When its 95 degrees outside, wading is the way to go. I always used live crawfish, caught all the Black Perch, Smallmouth and Spots you wanted.
