I always tryy best to show good sportsmanship to other boaters and Fisherman. But some don't. I try to practice the 50 yard rule all the time and give people some space. I feel we all should. Maybe not. But had 2 things happen today. I want to ask you all on here if you do the same. One guy had 2 what looked like hs students with him pulled up in front of me at less than 100 ft and started fishing. I ask him if he was really going to fish there with me headed that way. Was on a flat on side of main channel. All kinds of room. Could have went farther up or behind me. Not right in front of me. He said yes I am are you fishing here to. I told him I am heading that way. So instead of moving up or anything he stays right there. I fished to him with out him moving then fished the way I had planed anyway. Which took me where he was casting. I did tell him that was not good sportsman ship. And not a good thing to teach those kids. The other was a guy comes while fishing flat within 75ft at wot. Instead of following the channel. across the flat where we was casting. Am I to respectful to other or was these 2 just rude.
But all we was able to put in the boat was white bass. Nothing else for us today.

These kinds of stories come up all the time. No you're not overreacting and yes you were wronged. There will always be plenty of rude and inconsiderate people out there but I try to be a little more optimistic about it. I see times like that as a good chance to make good examples to my kids or whoever is with me. No matter how many jerks are out there I truly believe that those of us with good conscience and morals highly outnumber them.

I too use moments like that as an example of "what not to do" when I have my daughter in the boat with me. Funny thing is the other day she says daddy, we sure get a lot of "what not to do" examples every time we come out! I then asked her, do u wanna go closer so we can thank them in person :) I'm just glad my dad taught me about respecting other fisherman when I was growing up. It's only gonna get worse I'm afraid folks!

It will get worse with the Me and the I generation. Only bad thing is the parents that feel they have to support giving them whatever they want or letting them do whatever they want to so they are happy without teaching them a darn thing in manners. Sorry enough it is left to us to take them to raise and show them their errors.

Had a guy run by us on plane at maybe 10' away on Saturday. Made me wish I hadn't just set the rig down.

It amazes me at how big of a hurry people are in. Are we not supposed to be doing this sport to slow down a little and get away from daily things? I would say very few people fish for a career so why not enjoy it like a hobby not a job.

It's going to be awful this spring, but I will say if you are fishing the edge of a channel where it's the only place traffic can pass you can't expect every boat to come off pad and idle pass you, it's not going to happen. I fish areas like that a lot and am totally fine with people going by at speed.

They're just getting you warmed up to the idea, Believe me it's gonna get worse this is just a warm winter day and spring is coming and 4 billion tournaments

Yep, could not agree more. Get ready, it is going to get crazy. emoCrazy Looks like this may be one of the worse years yet. Get in line, be prepared to be cut off, moved in on, have folks fishing where you had planned to fish, catch a fish and have other boats descend upon you, be cussed out and chewed out for being on spots that others claim as "MT SPOT!" and the list goes on and on. Just come with thick skin, be thankful we are able to even be in the game and remember we are out there for the "Fun" of it. The first CFF tournament sounds like it is going to be one of the worst ones yet for having a ton of folks fishing that day. emoBooHoo The Heartland and the CFF will be out of HBSP, the High School tournament is going out of Chester Frost Park, the TN Team Tournament Trail is out of Dayton, not to mention any other tournaments and all the just plain ol'fishing anglers who will be out for the fun of fishing. emoGoofy Jmax

Spur, I am right there with you on that. Unfortunately some of these anglers act and think like they are fishing for the Bass Masters Classic and millions of dollars. emoBang Jmax
