I made it out for about 1 1/2 hrs this evening, put my eggs in the anchor basket. I had a feeling I'd get a big bite. I did, after about 15 minutes. Darn thing cut me off on the bottom, in some rocks I guess. Line was badly frayed about 1 foot up. Anyway, my storage place closes at 9 so I have a feeling they are biting now. I told Richard to get my team catfish circle hook back! He's fishing a sweet spot now with 3-4 cats biggest around 25 lbs.

I was out of town to Greenville, SC this weekend, and missed the fishing. Had a great time with the lady, and it should buy me some fishing credits!

Last weekend I got on a good bass bite fishing shad and shiners, mostly shad though that I cast netted. I had a pb largemouth break a hook on me, not the line. Then I landed a psychotic smallmouth that went 21 inches. I'm thinking I'm on to something. I anchor fished a little bit with a 25 and 28 lber for big fish. Fish were tough in all the current, good stuff. I barely anchored, would have liked to anchor all 3 days but wanted to get fish in the boat. I light lined a lot of bass and cats.

I took Jeff out with his wife Lena, and they were complaining about sore arms. We caught so many blues, small ones. Jeff had a toad largemouth that said 8 lbs on the gripper. I'm thinking somewhere around 7ish.

I posted kind of late as the bass spot was really specific and I've been burned from the bank before with pressure. Richard was going to post and I told him to hold off for a bit as it's a one boat spot. I still wanted to post later, as it was an amazing weekend and shows what the river can bring. I like doing combo trips, but you all know I'd rather just catch a world record blue.

Richard has called me like 3 times anchor fishing, he's setting up for a big one. Maybe I'll do a play by play for you all sometime, I still cannot believe he is anchor fishing. Maybe an old dog can learn new tricks. emoLaugh

Yea, maybe? emoScratch

I like it when they actually "bite." But sit there too long without action and I've got to go "huntin'!" emoBigsmile

Great fish Sam, looks like you wore them out. Really nice bass. Good idea to delay the reports, it can get crowded in a hurry down there. How is the new rig working out, I know you have to love that Yamaha. See you on the water. I think Richard is just getting old like the rest of us and needs an occasional break, so anchor down, lol. Thanks for the report and great pictures.

Regards, Labman
