On 2/14, I had 4 that went 14# including a 7# that was the 1st bite ever on a new rod and real with a lipless crank I found in a tree last year! I figured this was a lucky outfit and I'd better fish it hard today! I hadn't been out for a month so with no practice I struggled with a starting plan and decided to just "go fishing" This was my first time out in my (new to me), Ranger 521 and was excited to just have fun regardless of the outcome. So I went and did what I did the month previous- threw a lipless crank on my new KVD 7'2" Cranking rod called the "Power Launcher" lol, and a new Enigma Ippon reel spooled with 14# Suffix Flouro and the lure I found. 2 casts in, I tag and bag a line bumper. About a dozen casts later I bang a 4 pounder. Got revved up early and bared down hard on this area for a couple of hours only to catch one more that was short. Moved up river and this area had boats everywhere. I managed to fish some spots but nothing. Then I noticed the back of the slough was empty and worked in there quickly. Caught another short and a few casts later banged the 5 lbr! It was around noon but now I had three. The rest of the day was spent running around trying to cull out the small one. Hit the best stuff I had and only 1 more shorty. Caught everything in 4 F.O.W. Won 40 bucks but wiped out my 400 dollar prop loading out. That ruined my day. A shout out to Hamilton Co. for the great job they do maintaining the park ramp! Thanks to everyone and see ya'll on the Jack for #3!
