3rd time out for '21... Thu- Only had 1 bite and went to graphing rest of the day- Found some good offshore fish Marked them with side scan. Water was 56 at 3 pm. Sat- Stepped outside to howling wind, freezing wind chill and a bad moon phase but kept a decent attitude that I'd found something fresh and different (lied to myself). Got to my waypoints and got a big nothing. Everything was gone. Went shallow out of the wind but water temps were 12 degrees lower than Thu. Found some bait but- everything was gone. 10:30- Hit a stretch of wind blown rip rap and caught 3 shorties and snagged 2 -8" gizzard shad stair stepping a 3/4 oz lipless down the rocks. There was so much bait here I couldn't graph any bass. Tried to work a jerk bait offshore from the rip rap but it was like trying to throw a potato chip into the wind. Ran down river where I had the one bite on Thu. Nothing. 3 other boats there and I was having one of those days with hung up baits and tangled lines in the wind etc, wondering why I even got out of bed! 1PM- Nothing in the boat. In a panic I ran back to where I caught the 3 shorties hoping for 1 keeper bite. All the bait and other swimming species were gone. I went shallow to a transition where it ledged up to a flat with a few pieces of wood and got nailed on a lipless. A 3 something. Skunk out of boat and mind! Had two other short strikes. It was 1:30 and if only the weigh-in was at 3pm, I feel I could have made a couple of adjustments and boated 1 or 2 more. See ya all next time. Grats to everyone on top[.
