Put in @ River Park and fished from 11-4P. After about 6-8 casts with a trap, I bowed up on a giant Smallie. A few cranks of the reel and she wanted no part of it. I saw a huge bronze flash in the clear water and she ran for deep water like a freight train and pulled off! This was a trophy size brownie. I stayed in the area for awhile but nothing else. I then got my trap stuck on a tree and went in to get it and drifted into a huge V shaped log that got wedged between my seat backs and my Talon. Couldn't turn the boat with the current keeping me wedged in- WTF! Finally pushed my way out and what a mess of mud and tree bark everywhere! Fished for about 3 hours with a multitude of hard baits and not a single bite anywhere. This is a case of - without bad luck today, wouldn't have any luck at all! I then ran down river to fish a few history spots. One produced 2 short LM's and the next produced 2- 16" keepers. One was a spot and the other a LM. Both chunks. Water temps were 55 to 58.6. Creeks and slough's were backed up with mud so I didn't mess much with them and focused more on the main river. The current was rough everywhere. It got rainy and colder so I loaded out to the house.

Thanks for the report. Sounds like it could be interesting this Sat.
Current like that can be dangerous, I'm glad nothing bad happened.
I look foward to fishing with you guys in the CFF this weekend

Thanks for the report. Sorry about the big smallmouth.

It can be very hit or miss down there. For a few years we fished the river (Upper Nick) a lot. Many times we had slow trips that were made good at the end of the day with a trophy Brownfish. But it can be slooooooow at times - even when it "should" be good.

But I have a feeling there will be some big Browns checked in Saturday afternoon....
