I am about to replace most of my rods. Looking for the best of both worlds, price and quality. Tell me what you think of the new Skeet Reese rods by McGill & Wright. Or tell me your opinon on rods around the $100 range. Thanks for your input.

Skeet Reese is an average rod. IMO if your going to spend over $150 you should really look at a custom rod (you might find a production rod will suit you fine but you should still should be comparing to a custom). At the $100 price level it is very competitive; lots of rods to look at here. I have seen some rods (depending on power and action) from pretty much every company that are decent. Overall I have liked Falcon, Powell, and St Croix for the most part in the the $100 price range.

I have only had 1 custom built rod to compare to.Don't know of anyone that builds them.I have a few of the Skeet Reese rods by McGill & Wright. They fill great for the price.I guess rods are like the bait that are being built. Most of them are made to catch fish, but alot of them are made to catch the fishermans eye.

In the $50-80 price range, I think the Abu vendetta rods are the best. Skeets are good too, but not the best.
If you go over that, I think you get into specific rods for specific lures. A carrot stick crankin rod is the best rattle trap rod out there. a gloomis is a great c-rig rod. castaway and loomis both have great spinnerbait rods, etc.

Go see John Miles in Cleveland. He can build whatever you want. He builds a good quality rod for a good price and cannot beat the warranty.John has been building rods for a long time. I have 5 of his rods and have been pleased.

I agree john builds great rods i also have a skeet reese rod and i like it but i've hearing good things about that new abu rods i'm about to go buy one and see if i like it.

Honestly, I've never tried Skeet Reese rods... Personally, I'm a GLoomis or BPS man... To me, they make rods that fit, are sensitive enough and provide the best hook penetration when I'm fishing....

You got it macdaddy! I'm foaming at the mouth for a new GLoomis 896 deep flex crankbait rod. I have two of the CBR847's now and they are awesome but I still want a deep flex to go with them.

I tried out my new Skeete jerkbait rod today and love it.Its light and sensitive. You need to get one and try it,im sure you want be disapointed.

I have 2 of the new Skeet Reese rods, the flipping stick and the worm rod, and I like them a lot. They are a good price and to my knowledge have a lifetime warrenty. Carrot Stix is another rod I use the majority of the time and they are really good also. Go down and see Kevin Keith at Grants Sporting Goods in Dalton. He has the full line up of Skeet Reese rods. Also look at the new Okuma rods.

Grants sporting goods are going threw these rods like hot cakes. The crankbait rods are going out as fast as he can get them in. He has plenty of the other skeet rods.

skeet reese rods are the best rod i have ever got for 89 bucks hands down. get lots of them you will love them.
