Gentlemen:
I wanted to offer a trade or some kind of compensation for items that I need from hunters.
I don’t hunt per se. I used to hunt turkey before I got into my career of teaching. Now, the best time to turkey hunt is during one of my busiest times of the year. April and May are dead week, finals, and graduation all rolled into a few short weeks. I can't get out of the office during this time as I have to grade all their work for the semester. Therefore, I don’t hunt turkeys anymore. The fall isn’t much better, as I am just starting classes and can’t get out until the holidays, when I have to go do the “family thing” with relatives and in-laws. Basically, I just don't have time anymore...
So, basically, I concentrate on fly fishing and tying flies.
That being said, I need some fly tying supplies. I need feathers, fur and other items that are normally discarded after the hunt.
If anyone is going on a pheasant hunt this year, I could use about 4 or 5 tail feathers from a rooster and a set of wings.
If anyone is going quail or grouse hunting, I could use the whole hide. I especially need a California Quail (a gray variant) if anyone is going out west.
I can always use any duck hides (especially a pintail or wood duck [male]).
I would be happy to trade a service or a box of hand tied flies, or my services as a fly tyer for any items. I am pretty proficient at tying marabou and bucktail jigs.
Feel free to send me a p.m. this fall if you have any leftovers.
Thanks,
-Rob
