They probably would have enjoyed a nice steak instead emoBigsmile

If you don't mind saying, how did you catch those skipjack? Were you fishing from the bank or from a boat? Jigs or Sabiki rig?
I'm working in Chattanooga a lot now and I might just have to put a few of those in my freezer too.
Thanks,

Cheez

I was fishing from the bank..about midway from the railroad bridge to the pier...was using crappie jigs ..I tie 3 or 4 inline and use a swivel so they dont get all twisted up....I use a fairly fast retreive and jig while reeling it in...Caught most of these about 10 yards off the bank. Hope this helps. There were lots of people there catching them and one guy was using the guts out of them to catch catfish in the turbine holes over by the walkway. He had 4 or 5 5 to 10 lbers.

I just got an education... I've always thought those were shad... Just looked 'em up on google, and sure enough, they are closley related to the shad but are not shad. they are herrings...

Thanks!

In the middle of summer when nothing else seems to bite, I'll go below the dam and toss a couple of jigs into the current and catcht 45 of these a minute. Dad is supposed to be looking for a boat here in a month or 2 and when he gets one, I'll be catching these for cutbait, although I will admit, somtimes fishing for the bait is more fun than the cats themselves ;)

Thanks for the report! Nice mess of skipjack. I had to buy a freezer for the catfish bait - the wife was making camments about how the freezer was starting to smell like my boat.emoRedface emoDoh

Thanks WLG I'll be there sometime next week after work with coolerand gear in hand.
