I was below the dam today seeing about some skipjacks and they were pulling all kinds of current. I had christy with me and she got bored with the slow action so we left. When the current is ripping like that what do you guys do to still be able to get on them? I would be embarrassed to not catch any but we only tried for about 45 minutes.

You mean to tell me that even veteran skipjackers don't catch them by the truckload every time they go!

Hear that Liveliner!

Obviously it IS possible to NOT catch them.

You might try a popping cork if they are hard to come by. Also move around a little, those boogers school so if you don't catch them on one side of the discharge then you might get them on the other. At G-ville dam (similar to Nick and Chick) I have about 3-4 spots I can pick up skips but sometimes they can only be caught in only one of those spots. This past wekend was evidenence of that. Bprice and I beat the water for 45min. without a bite in different spots, finally we went to the last spot and found them. We had a surplus of bait in minutes.

I've never missed going down past the the railroad tracks, wading out and tossing into the current there... two 1/32 jigs 12" apart under a cork.
