Well, I put in at skull island about 7:00am and stayed till 12:30, I fished the first three sloughs/ creeks up river from the ramp starting with the one right on the other side of the camp ground. There was little to no wind, water temp was 58 to 60 degrees with overcast skies all day. I trolled all over using jigs and minnows from 5 to 15ft and ended up with 4 keepers. All I can say is I must be the worlds crappiest crappie fisherman, it's a good thing I'm not feeding a family cause they would all go hungry, lol. While I was trolling I also did a little bass fishing, it turned out to be a little more entertaining, I probably caught over ten bass with only one LM over 15in (barely). The bass were caught on a red rattle trap and a junebug finesse worm on a jighead in 5-10ft of water.
I talked to a guy at the ramp as I was leaving, he told me that people have been catching a lot under wolftever bridge at night fishing under lights. Can anyone verify this info? I'm planning to get after them again on Tues or Weds, night fishing doesn't sound half bad as there probably wouldn't be as many boats on the water.
