Got up this mourning ready to fish our tournament out of grasshopper, but only two boats showed up. Guess everybody was smart. Anyway my partner and I decided we had went through too much trouble rolling out of bed and hooking the boat up so we decided to crappie fish. Started out fishing the mouth of creeks in the area but was bombarded by CBA guys. At one time I saw 4 boats fishing the same creek channel. We decided to leave since we were not bass fishing and braved the ruff open water, which payed off. We ended up catching around 100 fish in six hours. Not all crappie but the majority. We kept 26 crappie and 3 bluegill. All fish were cought on a float and fly method without the fly, squirming squirts/chart, with a 12-14 foot leader. Water temp stayed at 40.1 all day and we fished in 18 to 20 foot of water. About every 4th crappie was a keeper. We ran into alot of short fish and could not find a certin depth the big fish were holding. It almost seemed lucky every time we caught a keeper. We also caught a couple good fatheads along with a stripe or two.emoHungry emoHungry emoHungry emoHungry

Good looking mess of fish there Madd Dog. Was there much color to the water today? I figured that with the wind up like it was that the water would be getting a little dingy. Glad you got to go anyway.

Good report Madd ... 100 fish is 6 hours ... that's fun right there.

I bet the fish were really on ... I know when I was out doing errands I noticed the gulls at Wolftever were thick as thieves!! Made me wish I had opted to fish until I got out of my car at my first stop and felt the chill. Then I thought .. I'm glad I'm NOT fishing today. :)

You are brave souls for getting up and going out ... emoWorthy

Based on the effort in the conditions .. you deserve your catch.

TT

Good report, Madd dog. Float and fly method is deadly this time of year. Congratulations on the catch. emoGeezer

Sorry I missed out, I just had too much to get done at the house this weekend. Plus, it was a tad bit cold! Atleast you guys caught some fish, maybe we can hook up next time and get more boats involved. I may have a few buddies that would be interested, but our bass league starts up next month and a few of us are fishing more than one league this year.

Those are some outstanding numbers. I haven't been out in a couple of weeks and I am about to go crazy. Glad you guys got on them. Thanks for the report and picture. That many fish should make several nice meals.emoThumbsup

maybe this warm weather were going get this week will make the bite better so theres more keepers than shorts

Hopefully we will have a better turnout this Saturday...It is suppose to be around 70 degrees. Spread the word. Grasshopper Creek Tournament this weekend and the weather is going to be nice!!!!
