Well, another tough morning on Sloppy Floyd. I started by working over the rock piles on the top lake, and nothing was happening. To the left of the rocks, out into more open water, and over the area where a pipe that controls the spillway, the action was going crazy. Bluegills and bass alike were nailing small fry.

I did manage to get one good bass, solid 2 lber., on a Pop-R. I tried flipping and pitching, and eventually went down to the bottom lake, where two other anglers pushed me outta my area. I hate when that happens.

I went back up to the top lake, but by that time, the sun was so high that it was already getting hot, around 8:30 AM. So, I fished for a while, with no further action, and came home.

I was late getting on the water, but I was there by 6:30. The pressure these lakes get, coupled with the hot weather has caused the bite to slow down. I am hoping to get a couple of Smithwick Rattlin' Rogues, in suspending models, and use them.

nwgabassmaster; i havent fished that lake in years we use to catch some good cats out of there you ever fish rocky mtn. any i live just up the road from trion it a small world on here

hod daddy!!!!!!!!

Rocky Mountain is my second home, especially during the summer months. It's one of the few lakes that is different from all the rest. While all the other lakes are not producing fish during the heat, Rocky Mountain does. And not just the dinks. May 2005, I caught the fish in my avatar, and between my friend and I, we boated 20 bass all over 4 lbs., in the span of like 4 hours. Great day out there.

Yup, it's a small world. There are a lot of good catfish in Sloppy Floyd, and several larger ones. Tough to catch at times. I mostly fish for bass out there, but if they don't start hitting, I might have to go for the cats and gills. ;)

hey nwga, i plan on hitting up Rocky Mtn. Sunday morning. If you don't have any plans, pm me maybe we could share some tips. emoCool

we use to use cotapala ? {spelling }? worms to catch cats on but the tree is gone that i use to get my worms from any body know of a tree any where a frllow my get some off of

Depends on where you come from, but it's CATAWBA worms. Some folks say Catalpa, and that's right also. Same worm.

Go to the local nursery, and see if they have Catalpa trees. We did have 3 that we planted, but we gave them to my next door neighbor, and he mowed them down.

I have used them before, and they are a tough little worm to use. Great for ALL fish, due to the chlorophyll that they contain.

My Dad and I fished Lake Marvin, which is just past the entrance to the Pocket, off of Hwy. 136, past Villanow..............and he was bluegill fishing with a 9 ft. fly rod. Well, the float went under and he set the hook, and the next thing we know is that the drag on his little reel was screaming. After about a 10 mintue battle, a 15 lbs. carp was netted and released.

What color Pop-R were you throwing? We have caught some good ones there on a bluegill pattern Pop-n-Image.

The head of it is red, and the red extends to the back of it, but it fades on it's way back. The bottom is a pearlish/gray color. It's a great color Pop-R, and it's one that I have had success with before.

I need to get a few more, cause you can never have enough of those things.
