Got a case of cabin fever and had to go wet a hook. Started off bass fishing in the wolf and got no hits, nothing, notta. Desided to try the crappie and even they were slow. Only caught nine and I do not think any of them would have measured. Went back to the bass in the main lake fishing long points and finally managed two. Both on a silver buddy and neither were all that big. One was right at a keeper the other too small. I had one other hit on a finess june bug four inch worm and he had it but when I set the hook he was not there. Over all a slow day for the chick but it sure was nice and I enjoyed the day. I was there from about 9 till around 4. Keep your hooks wet gang.emoCool Jmax

Buddy of mine was up further than you, Soddy to Sale Creek. He reported about 20, with 6 that measured, and one about five. All from less that 18" inches of water, but they didn't move up till after noon or so (?). Bit Sammies mostly, and a Senko. This guy is usually pretty dependable, and our club tx's are done so no reason to mislead. Just thought i'd let yall know what he said. He fishes a lot more than me, so I usually believe when he says he's on fish. Just my2 cents, nothing more.

Although I have not wet a line in nearly a month (dang deer!), I can second what Flippen*1 reported. For two weekends in a row, my neighbor has been whacking them on the Chick with a Husky Jerk and a fluke fished in under 2'.

Jmax, I would expect that the deep fish would be more consistent but if those guys are catching fish shallow maybe you ought to believe them. I know you, you beat them shallow until it's too late and then don't have time to check out the deeper bite. If it were me, I would look shallow at some of the spots where they congregate late in the fall and if I don't see any action or catch fish after an hour or so I would fish deep on roadbeds or off the deeper ends of points that drop off into at least 25 feet of water. If it was sunny I might try shallow again later in the afternoon. In the creek there are huge numbers of shad in the channel in some areas of the creek. I would run until I found the huge schools on my depthfinder, then, get out my map and find ambush points near those areas. You will catch fish that way in the creek I guarantee it. I talked with CCSM about where I would fish on tournament day but you'll have to ask him about that.

That's right partner, lull them to sleep with a slow day, before we drop the hammer on the 9th ---- right, right, right ----- well maybe right --- maybe not --- but I'm looking forward to holding down the back seat for you at the event. I'll bet it is going to be cold --- I just hope dry on the 9th. It will be interesting to see what the top patterns turn out to be.
