well I bought the Taurus tcp 380 and 100 rounds for 259.18 shot it 6 times and had no problem hitting kill with the 5 follow up shots fired fast they was a bit high but all in the kill at 10 yards will post photo when I find out how the gun is small and very easy to carry I need to practice with it some more so I will be comfortable taking a head shot at 10 yards thanks to all that gave up some info the gun does have a small bit of recoil but much nicer than the pf9 but it is still to much for my wife to hold on to so I will be the one that carries it most of the time it will be a big change from the Taurus pt1o1 in 40 that I carry most of the time
procraft, and a FYI for any readers not trained or just learning about handguns.
I'm not knocking you, your knowledge or skills with a pistol, nor your desire to use your Taurus with confidence. That is what keeps people alive, proper training with more extensive training and the practice to go with it. I posted this because of your one statement: "I need to practice with it some more so I will be comfortable taking a head shot at 10 yards."
I'm no pro by any means, but I do not recommend attempting a head shot. That task during a life and death situation is so much harder to make when adrenalin is flowing, maybe some serous nerves playing a part and the worse of it is...... That head shot could be a moving target. Either towards you - trying to attack you or towards a family member. A shot at a small target moving away from you or horizontal towards a family member not positioned safely behind you.
I did have extensive handgun training during my 20 years in the Air Force and we always... And I do mean every year - was taught to shoot at center mass. 2 Shot minimum to stop a normal man. A man on drugs could take several rounds to slow down or stop. A head shot is hard to pull of in a stressful situation and a shot could glance off the skull and the bad guy can keep coming, too late if they closed the distance between you and them or family member and you only get that 1 shot off. That same shot into the chest could slow them down enough for follow up shots.
The accuracy you desire can be achieved, but at a range set up for moving targets to get that confidence or a home made set up using a 2 pulleys, rope and a safety barrier for a person to stand behind and pull the targets across your shooting path. Great if you know someone with lots of land and a safe back stop/ hill, plus the wood and metal to build a bullet proof barrier for the line puller.
Thanks for listening,
