smallmouth in reliance

[Gone fishin]

was wondering if anyone has caught any smallmouth below webbs store. Know there is some good rockfish
in there, and have heard of smallmouth being there. Just didn't Know for sure. Thinking about taking a canoe
trip down river. Any help would be appreciated.

Plenty of spotted bass, smallies are fairly rare that far up though. If you want smallies and not spotted bass I would start around 411 and head to Patty (or further downstream).

There are a blue million smallies in the hiwasee. Beetlespin and I used to go to the powerhouse and then walk up the river and fish. we caught a lot of smaller fish up there. in just about every deeper hole. I have not done it in many many years now though. There are about twice as many snakes to fish also so be careful!

I have also caught a few SM in a few holes around the trophy area on roostertails. I have seen pictures of some 3 and 4 pound fish from up there though. but like i said before that was years ago.

I agree with Fishheadspin. We occasionally will catch one around the trophy area and have waded and caught several below Web's store using both roostertails and crickets.
Above the power house is the place to go however it is infested with Copperheads and I mean infested. The last trip my Dad and I killed 3 and don't know how many others we saw much less how many more saw us!! Snake boots are a must in that area. I have caught several nice smallies up there and lost 3 trophy fish however due to the snakes, we don't take that chance very often.

I have heard stories of giant bass laying around the power house but never seen any.
From all the articles read in bass magazines about stream fishing for smallies thought
I would give it a try. Lots of cover along the bank and some of the best scenery around.
Haven't caught alot of brown bass, my biggest was right at 18 inches and three pounds.
Caught it on a Rapala suspending jerkbait which I cant find anymore, came out of
Sale Creek in Febuary. Any way gonna find me a canoe and go from Webbs down to
where the two rivers meet, maybe even Patty bridge if I can make it.

I was up there fishing a few weeks ago and saw plenty of snakes. In fact one even took zoom craw as I was reeling it past a rock. That is the most snake infested place I know, but the fishing is good!!!

i fished the powerhouse down to the end of the trophy section on monday, i saw two big smallies laying on top of the grass but they wouldnt take anything. i have seen one of those monster bass up there, it was in the deep hole about a mile below the powerhouse, right after the river narrows and the road turns betweeen the hill and those rapids, i was on a rock way out in the river and i saw a largemouth cruise on by, alll i can say is it was BIG!
