I have been missing charcoal for awhile. Our very own Doc1 hooked me up on a Primo JR. Yall need to see him if you want one. This is not a paid ad. emoRolleyes I scaned the www and picked stuff we know we like and what we had at the house to smoke a chicken. Here is what happened. I put a handful of hickory in a bowl to soak in water and lit the lump in the Primo. I washed the Chicken and rubbed it down with Italian dressing and sprinkled it with Lowery season salt, crushed red pepper, Paprika &garlic pepper. I just let it set till the fire got to 250. I added the hickory, filled the drip pan half full, and set the chicken upright on the grill. Hopeing for a chimney effect on the inside. It cooked 2 1/2hr.s . I then shut off the vents and let it sit in there for 45 minutes as the grill cooled. It turned out pretty good as the wife said, "I dont even like the skin, but her next words were muffled with a mouthful of chicken, skin included. It's done when a meat therm. reaches 165 on the breast meat.

I see we have another Primo convert on here, that chicken looks scrumpshus and I know what you are talking about, the Primo will make an excellent cook out of anyone, especially you Rick, Faye told me you couldn't boil water without burning it.emoLaugh I am glad you had a first time success cooking on the Primo. What is the next cooking project you have in mind?

Bent rod, looks real yummy. You should try a fatty (or at least cook one or three to go with the chicken), hmmmm goood me loves some fatty.

Doc1, pm me your phone number again. I am ready to buy (got to figure out which accessories I want/need too). I am thinking of converting a stainless cart, so I can roll into the screen in area of the porch, we can chat about that too.
