Well I finally get to make a report....haven`t fished much the last year and half.....due to a bunch of things.

Went out tues the 4th to shake the cobwebs off the gear and see if anything would bite. Didn`t get going till about 10 am or so and caught a few. Took 7 home to clean and threw back that many. Some decent size and acouple just keepers.

Went back on Sunday the 9th. Again a little late starting about 9:30....fished till about 3:30 pm. Took home 13 and a white bass. Most were nice in the 11 to 13 range and 3 or4 just keepers 10 1/2. Surprisingly only threw back about 5 shorts.

Went back today ...fog didn`t lift till nearly 11:00 Slow start but the first one was about 13+....fish seemed to beon shallower water than usual. Srtolled around a while and get one here and there ...picked up a couple more 12+ and 1 just keeper. Ran into jbh3 and we started comparing fish tales. While we talking we were still fishing and the fish started biting . He had already given the one keeper he had in his livewell cause he was going to have to leave for husbandly duties. He caught 2 more nice keepers and I put a 14 inch in my boat and another 11. Wound up taking 10 home to clean including the 3 John gave me.

The fish were strange today and the wind was out of the east, instead of the west the other days. Probably had 10-12 shorts. But overall a good sack for Tellico. Had five in the 12-14 in range and the others were really nice 10 1/2-11 1/2

Sorry DK... I was strolling Minners around behind the boat under a bobber over about 7-8 acre honey flat I`ve been fishing for a few years. Catch most of the fish about 14 feet under bobber. I usually run one rod about 10-11 feet under the bobber too. John was throwing the little plastic do dads and got some on the six count. I`m fishing over an old creek bed about 22 ft deep and flats in between the curves about 14-16 ft. Some time they areon the deep...sometimes the shallower. John is rabid fisherman...I usually see him about two out of three trips I go. Been running into him for years. We used to fish the same club for a few years. Great guy!

We was talking about making the trip down to get in on the bonanza at the Chic. But I`m in the water in about 15 minutes from my house and John `s not too awful far either. I guess we`ll probably stay up here for now.

P.S. ....just for reference, the gas I`m running in my boat was bought about April of 2011....No problems.....it is pure gas though andI run the Don Weed BBC cocktail of additives. I think I`ll go get some fresh tommorow... I`m down to less than 10 gallons now.

Good looking bunch of fish, Snuffy. My wife and I were in your neck of the woods a couple of weeks ago and I thought of you as I passed through Vonore. We stopped at Benton's and bought a couple boxes of pepper jack cheese. Best in the country. Can't get this at any deli. Do you ever stop in there and buy stuff?

BTW, I won't get on you too hard for cheating with those minners. A year and 1/2 without wetting a line, man ought to get a little break every now and then. emoUpsmile

emoThumbsup I made a trip up this past thursday but had no luck fishing but did learn some things about the lake. It was my first time on those 2 lakes so I still enjoyed the trip.

Snuff, really enjoyed tag teaming those crappie with you, pal. No doubt, I'll see you up there again in a day or two. Also, no need to apologize for the minners. You've got to find fish to catch them, no matter what you put over the side. Live bait seems to be producing the better strings up there right now. Thanks to the Drumking and the CFF crappie crew, I've become addicted to the plastics and will keep soaking them every chance I get. Love to feel that tap and/or see the line jump.
Rod, hope you have better luck next trip. I fished Loudoun out of the Canal Thursday and zeroed. A couple of the other boats reported low numbers, but did catch some good fish, however. One had a 6+ LM on a spinner bait on the "T" side, the other had 2 keeper SM cranking points on Loudoun. Have a good weekend, folks!

Thanks for the pass DK....I was down to one package of crappie in the freezer and starting to panic a little. I did manage to catch one on my first cast with "your little crappie shooting rig" I bought last year...I promise to work on that a little more soon.
I haven`t been into Benton`s although I swore I was going to stop every time I pass there. My next door neighbor says they have some of the best "side meat"(middlin`s AKA bacon) around. I`m lucky enough to get in on some Fresh sausage every year when a couple of my neighbors kill hogs and occasionally some terderloin and middlins.
Have you been by the Sweetwater Valley Cheese Farm ?? They have a wide variety of cheeses they make from their own dairy. I`ve tried a few and they are excellent . If you take Hwy 72 west in Vonore ( at the Weigels redlight) and go till you cross Hwy 11.....go south on 11 about 2 miles and the Cheese farm store is on the right. It would be a easy rerout for you on your way back to `Nooga.
John ...as always enjoyed seeing you and glad we could get a few... I went back Saturday and managed to get 13 more although only had 3-4 in the 12 inch range. I had plenty of help being Saturday I guess. I had troller that made mutiple passes thru my "zone" and a couple that were headed my way till they saw me...Good day though didn`t realize I had that many till I got home....gonna have to get a clicker I guess.
Rod ... you picked a tuff time to fish either lake for bass really....the winterdraw down happened in the last month and its tuff most any time anyway. There are some really good fish in both lakes but you have to really work at it. It will be pretty tuff till about March . You can catch them relatively shallow at times this time of year but I usually stay deep with jigs and such things and you may not get many bites...but any one bite could be a whopper. But this ain`t the Chic and I admire you for getting out of your comfort zone and trying something different.

Thanks for the cheese store info, Snuffy. I will check it out next time that I am in your area. emoBigsmile emoGeezer
