I had a close encounter with a red fox. I was paddling around the islands in Harrison Bay, and after turning a point, I saw a fox sacked OUT on a rock about 5' above the water's surface. I slowed my cadence and began a swift glide right toward the fox ... then I was ratted out! Aaaaaaack! AAAAAAAACK!! A heron spied me and took it upon himself to warn all of Harrison that I was on the water. From ten feet and closing fast, the curled-up ball on the rocks lifted its head and stared me down for a half second before it di-di'd up the bank. At the top of the bank, another fox - previously unseen - joined it and they both hightailed it for the deep woods.

It was pea soup out there, huh? It broke shortly after I launched at 10:30, but I was fully prepared to use my x-ray vision.

Hey Al - it was a fox, for certain. Had it been a Ute, I'dve been trying to get my hands around its neck!

Wet Willie - 1/4/2009 6:34 PM Uh-Huh...you sure those weren't utes? emoLaugh</p>

Tisk, tisk Uncle Al. Sticks and stones!

Bama waited until the last game of the season to screw the pooch. Your Vols went to UCLA and started the screwin' on the first date! emoLaugh

Gosh dang ... I'm trying to make a post about a close encounter with one of God's creatures on a beautiful morning and ya'll have to bring up the Sugar Bowl all over again! emoGeezer

Bet it was a pretty fox, buddy. emoRolleyes

Fat Albert, you are clearly piling on...besides, I bleed crimson too, at least until I sober up. emoTongue Al

I've seen a red fox on the island closest to pinky's point on multiple occasions. To get that close to one is rare.

That's cool, good post. Aaaaaaaaaack, AAAAAAAAAACK is right on! Leave it to a noisy Heron to blow your chance of getting close enough to pet the cute little critter...

Thats funny AL.......mean, but funny lol

Sorry Rob....I was semi-rooting for them!

Great story on the Fox....BEAUTIFUL animals

Rob, I have a couple who come to my back yard and eat scraps, you are welcome to come over and pet these if you can get close enough, I don't think they are into hand feeding though.
