Do we want to kick off the year at Guntersville again? Should we do 2 tx's at Guntersville this year? That lake seems to draw more boats. I was thinking we could kick the year off at the Jackson Co Park again (as long as there is not another big tx) and then maybe the May 1st tx at the Hwy 117 ramp... What do you guys think?

OK... Here is my schedule. Feel free to critique.

Feb 20 - Guntersville (Jackson Co Park)

Mar 6 - Nickajack (Marion Co Park)

April 10 - Chickamauga (Harrison Bay)

May 1 - Guntersville (Hwy 117)

May 29 - Chickamauga (Grasshopper)

June 19 - Nickajack (Riverpark)

July 16 (night) - Chickamauga (Chester Frost)

Aug 14 (night) - Nickajack (Marion Co Park)

Sep 18 - Chickamauga (Dam)

Oct 16 (classic) - Chickamauga (Chester Frost)

I like that schedule Danny.

My proposed changes would be do away with the Tournament out of Grasshopper. Not a great ramp and I dont think our participation would be that great up there. I dont think we ever need to blast farther north than CFP when fishing Chick. Chester Frost is the best place to hold tournys on Chickamauga given it's location, ramp, weigh in facilities and parking. I wouldn't mind us having them all out of CFP to be honest, or simply rotate between CFP and HBSP, but that's just my opinion.

Also for the night tournies.....Last year we had some debate come up about the hours for the night tournaments in the summer. I propose that they are ALL either from 6-2 or 7-3. That gives a full 8 hours on the water. Only downside to that is, during June, July, and August, you know Saturday afternoons and evenings are BAD for boat traffic. My suggestion would be to have our night tournys on Friday nights instead of Saturdays. There will still be boat traffic, no doubt. But I think the traffic would be significantly less on a Friday than it would on a Saturday.

Just my thoughts.....ya'll chime in

6-2 on the nights. Fridays are cool.

I feel the same about the grasshopper ramp too.

I would like to see guntersville later than earlier though. Seems the lake has been starting out good late march to april.

I'm posting while moble but will dig in later tonight.

Ok guys, try this on for size:

Feb 20 NickaJack MCP

March 6 G'ville Hwy 117

April 10 Chick HBSP

May 1 NickaJack Serindino

May 22 G'ville Goosepond

June 25 Chick Friday (Night) Full moon CFP

July 23 ChickFriday (Night) Full Moon CFP

Aug 14 Chick Dogfight Chickamauga Dam

Sept 18 NickaJack Sullivans

Oct 2 Chick Classic CFP

Does not conflict with CBA, BFL Choo Choo, or BFL Bama or holidays, however, I'm sure it will conflict with any number of other tx. We might want to drop the Feb tx and only go with nine. Pick it apart. Al

1) 10-2 conflicts with Bama Division Super Tournament on the G.
2) Launching at the Highway 117 bridge is a long run to everywhere. A more central location would be better.
3) Night tournaments on Friday are fine but some will have difficulty getting there by 6. 7-3 are better.
4) I like the idea of having the first 2 at Guntersville but I'd settle for 1 on G and the other on Nickajack.
5) I like the idea of launching at Grasshopper but I'm a realist. It would cut down on the participation.

I like it Al. We could move the classic to Oct 16. I like the Hwy 117 ramp because of the shorter drive and easy parking, but I do understand its a long run. I work until 6 on Fridays so I also like the idea of later starts on the night tournaments.

I had some ideas on a points system...

1st place - 100pts
2nd place - 90pts
3rd place - 85pts
4th place - 80pts
5th place - 75pts
6-10th place - 60pts
11-15th place - 50pts
16-20th place - 40pts
21-25th place - 30pts
26-rest of the field that weighs fish - 20pts
No weight - 10pts

15pt bonus for big fish
10pt bonus for 2nd big fish

Tweak away guys... emoTongue

I also liked the payout schedule from last year. Just an idea...Maybe we could change it around a little that would have the winners paid out a little higher if there is a certain amount of boats that register. Like if we have at least 30 boats 1st place is $300, but if its less than 30 boats, it's $200 for 1st.

Problem with the points are that we have 3 and possibly 4 big fish. To be honest with you, I like the old system now that I've had time to think on it. Doing the points by weight this year was fin and interesting. I personally would like to keep it.

Big G in Feb...no thank you. We've had 3 in Feb in the past and they all have stunk. I like Al's dates best on that.

7-3 is fine for the night Txes but there's that 5:30-6pm window of fish in the jumps. ESPECAILLY that time of year.

Big G in Feb takes a LOT of work to get on fish. You'd have 2-3 good bags and then a bunch of DNW and early exits. I know the ease of getting there, but if folks are going to spend money on licenses they might as well get to more fishable water and a better time. March 6 will give everyone a real Trap opportunity, and May date will be in the full swing of the shad spawn.

I wish I could help this year guys, but I won't be able to. I hope to fish the Gville tournaments though, but my March might be spent in the desert.
