Since I had an appointment with my oral surgeon this morning for a checkup, I didn't make any plans with anyone to go fishing. It was so nice and overcast that I couldn't stand it! However all my usual fishing buddies were out of pocket, so I wound up going by myself. This is the third time I've done this since I joined the forum.

I claimed I didn't fish alone. I guess we can kiss that idea goodbye!

I launched in Soddy Creek about 11:30 and experimented around hunting drops with brush or rocks! Tried a couple of other spots where Fat Albert & I caught some last week. Caught one slick. Went out to the river, saw two cruisers coming downstream , turned around and went to the back of Soddy Creek. From 1:30 til 4:30 I caught about 30 bass, 2 of which were keepers. 2 lb 4 oz & 3 lb 9 oz. I finally caught some fish on a chatter-bait! In fact, I caught most of my fish on a chatter-bait. It was white with a chartruese Zoom trailer. I threw away that wimpy trailer that came with it. I even switched to a regular white & chartruese SB to see if it made a difference. I also tried a 100 bandit. Nada, Ziltch, back to the chatter-bait.

All fish were caught in 3-5 feet over patchy milfoil. When the chatterbait bite quit, I went back over the area with a craw tube. No luck. While I was catching bass on the chatterbait, big bream were taking swipes at the lure on almost every cast. So, for the last little while I fished, I used a 3" smoke & sparkle minnow on my ultralight rod.

I'm gonna tear up the bream, right? Wrong! I catch 5 or 6 more 12-13" bass. A lot of fun on the ultralight.

Today was the first time someone yelled "MadBomber" at me. Turned out it was a former coworker. I didn't know he was a member. He goes by "Beetlespin".

I'm having so much fun, I can hardly stand it!

Yes, I know it looks like I took the fish home. I forgot my camera. I took her picture and put her back where I found her.

Man! Son and I fished in Soddy this evening and only got about 4 bass....

What in the world are we doing wrong? If I had the kitchen sink, I would have thrown it!!!

I'll have to hook up with you some time MB....

you did not tell me you went fishing anyhow. I had more ball games so you know what that means. I'm glad you finally caught fish on the chat-er thing a ma jig . you threw it enough. hahahaha (5 more days)emoLaugh emoLaugh emoLaugh emoGeezer by the way how did you take that picture???? a long arm I think???

Way to go, Madbomber! Did you get to talk to Beetlespin? Tell him that the drumking said hi and if he kept on practicing, he will someday be able to catch some real fish.emoLaugh

Actually, he is a good fisherman. He won 1 tournament this year already. He can't play golf worth a hoot though.emoUpsmile He averages 300 yards on his drives, but 200 of it is into the woods.

I'm gonna take him to WB and striper fish with him someday. We just can't seem to get our schedules together.emoGeezer

Its more like 230 average now on the drives but 200 is still in the woods and I have won five tournaments this year! Of course, i am back to not catching anything now that the bass have moved out.

Hey Beetlespin,
I have only played 18 holes of golf this year. 36 last year and 18 the year before. I am still hitting my drives out of sight though, only problem is I can't see but about 50 yards and that's not too clearly. If I stumble onto some bass, I'll PM you and let you know what I find, but don't expect much. With the temps being what they are and just as soon as the humidity gets up just a little bit, my boat is going into summer hybernation. I'll get it back out in late September.emoUpsmile

Can't play golf, can't see, can't putt, putting the boat up just because it is getting HOT????? you guys must be getting OLD..emoGeezer

Almost as old as you Fat Albert. I will on occasion get my boat back out and do a little catfishing early and late. More early than late. I still have my tomatos and green beans to keep me busy this summer. Plus, I intend to continue my education into summertime crappie fishing, but those trips will be short and sweet. I have a few ideas in my head that I'd like to try.

Going to Wisconsin this morning for a worship weekend with several churches from NY, Indiana, and Ohio so I'll be out of pocket for a few days. I should be home by next Tuesday nite or so.emoAngel emoGeezer

Oh yeah, Fat Albert, my golf handicap is now four. I can't drive (1), can't hit irons anymore (2), can't chip (3) and can't putt (4). So that makes me a 4 handicapper.emoAngel emoSmile
