Just wondering if anyone knows of some durable soft plastics that don't tear or split after just a single bite. during the tourney sat I went through a pack and a half of zoom lizards, bottom of the boat looked like a lizard grave yard with split heads and backs. I like zooms plastics, have fished them all my life, and caught a ton of fish with them but they, especially their lizards, just don't hold up. I can get 2 maybe 3 bites, sometimes only 1 with a creature bait, out of one of their plastics before its split or torn to much to stay on the hook. Not so bad with the worms cause you just bite off part and still have enough worm, but that can't be done with the lizards or their other creature baits. Been looking around online but I've never put much faith in the product reviews that are listed along with the products.

There was a show years ago, I think it may have been Hank Parker...any way, he had the owner of Zoom on and said "man, I love your baits but they tear up after just one fish", the owner just smiled. Increases the heck out of sales.

Z Man plastics are the toughest I've found, but they are almost impossible to attach to a shakey jig, as Hook 1 said. I found some heaver Ned head jigs that I use as shakey heads that work well. Only problem I've had with Z Man is a couple of packs of worms that were about a year or so old, all stuck together and would not separate. I might not have sealed the pack after removing one and may have dried out. I buy plastic from Barlow's Tackle that are very durable, and you can buy in bulk and are very reasonably priced. I could be wrong, but I think the salt infused baits seem to tear much easier.

I use a lot of the Strike King rage tail baits, when I loose a flipper or they are torn up some, I save them for later then use super glue gel to glue on parts and patch up splits. This saves money and they fish as good as new.

Baits with a high salt content are gonna be the least durable...but Chick bass love super salty baits. Many of the pros that grew up fishing this lake are die-hard Zoom fanatics; several are even sponsored by Zoom. By switching to something more durable, you may just find yourself with a lot less bites emoGeezer .</p>

I was worried about that too Jason. I might try the zman but I don't mind burning through plastics cause they're getting bit. Was mostly just curious if someone had found a happy medium.

Get some of these. You'll lose it before you tear it up. A perfect shakey head worm using Owner 3.0 off set wide gap hooks in 3/16.
