I have a 1983 mercury 50 horse motor on my fishing boat that I just got.The motor connector is the 8 pin style plug.the motor does not have tilt/trim. Ok,the control box that I bought for it is the small 80`s style quick silver box that someone had wired up the old syylr wiring harness to that had the snap on the side of the motor kind of plug on it,wired allthe way inside of the control box. I already had a 8 pin style plug like I need for this engine that i found in the garage that had been cut off. I only have 5 wires coming from the control box back to the engine. The colors are, Red,Black,Orange,Yellow,and Blue. The plug that I am trying to wire up has the 8 wires,the colors are,Red,Black,Purple,Brown,Grey,Yellow with red stripe,and Yellow with black stripe. can someone tell me how to hook these up so I can use it for my engine????
