Being a huge fan of shakey heads, it was just a matter of time before I released my own. After an afternoon pouring session, I'm pleased to announce the Dixie Jig Works Custom Baits 'Shake It' and 'Screw It.' I'm still ironing out pricing, but check back here and I'll have it in the next couple of days. As usual, you can count on competitive prices with above average quality. All heads feature a Mustad Ultra Point black nickel hook and your choice of powder paint colors to include - but not limited to - pumpkin, black, green pumpkin, petina copper, watermelon, brown, and smoke. Both the Shake It and the Screw It will be available in 1/16oz, 1/8oz, 3/16oz, 1/4oz, 5/16oz, & 3/8oz. Availability will be slightly limited until I can get some excess poured, so bare with me... In addition, I'll soon be releasing a 5th option for my buzzbait blades. Again, stay tuned to the same bat channel for details, but it'll be a hit with TW season only a week or two away.

Thanks Rob will have to have some of them. Bye the way I caught a couple of nice fish on your blades Friday. It was the 1st chance i got to tryem out really like em.emoApplause

This is Fuzzy (met you at Guntersville, I fished with Freebird). I will send you a pic of a real nice shaky head that a local guy makes. It's an EWG hook and I believe it's a 60 degrees. Just something different but I love them and he is the only one who sells them. Me and a buddy are trying to make our own, but one can imagine that as far as markeability and the "gimmickyness", people jump all over them! I honestly do believe you hook up more myself, but I never have enough to compare them too. You can see a few on the net...but I will send you a pic (if I have anymore left!)

With a name like screw it I might have to start fishing shaky heads! When you start making soft plastics you can call your sweet beaver copy a stinky beaver...

Okay ... pricing will be as follows:

Shake-It - $4/5pk
Screw-It - $4.50/5pk

I've already rec'd quite a few orders - even before a price was established - so gimme a chance to get caught up. As always, orders are processed in the order they are rec'd. You'll be able to get any of these in your choice of colors and I'll clean them up nicely (if you look at the above crappy pics from my camera phone, you can at least see that the paint covers the head only). On all of my baits, I remove any paint from the shaft of the hook and the hook eye (and the wire on SBs & BBs) so that the paint's where it's supposed to be and not all over the bait.

The Mustad Ultra Point flat-eye hook that I'm using is a 'medium thickness' hook (47 guage) that falls between the cheesy lightwire hook of others (straightens easily) and the heavy guage hook of others (no penetration ... no comments, Lance).

Swing by Corporate HQ, gimme a call, shoot me a PM ... whatever. I'll be happy to talk to you.

Are they available in junebug? The gauge sounds perfect; I've had magnum spots straighten a Spotsticker and trouble sticking fish with the Picasso's.

As far as the Sweet Beaver knock-off, I recommend "Stanky Beaver"...gives it a Southern touch

bent rod - 4/3/2008 4:12 AM

Do you have your "stuff" posted on a website?

It's almost impossible bent rod ... there's just too many options to accurately show anything. I've got close to 70 different colors of silicone ... numerous colors of paint, glitter, and eyes ... five different styles of spinnerbait blades (in four different colors) ... two different firmness levels of weed guards (in three different colors) ... 5 different weights of SB and Jig heads (jig heads in two different styles, as well) ... five different options of buzzbait blades ... you get the picture. It's just tough to show all of that and I've really just grown accustomed to folks dropping by the house and sitting down with me to discuss their order. It's a bizarre experience that too many of us have forgotten about - a smile and a handshake instead of a point and click. ;) It's also bizarre in that you can put something together that every Tom, Dick, and Harry hasn't bought off of a store shelf and I'll build it to your spec.

Thanks for inquiring!
