sonar vs down imaging at trolling motor

Who thinks down imaging is worth it on the trolling motor? I have an HDS 8 on the bow and I broke my transducer mount the other day so I'm wondering whether or not I should put on a down imaging transducer? What do you think?

Personal opinion but there are times I prefer it over sonar but it’s nice to have both

I've just been running both my units linked off the transom transducer after breaking mine a while back. I still see the fish in schools that are just ahead of me when I'm fishing deep. It's kind of nice not having it on the trolling motor anymore. Sonar works perfect. If its there, it will show it. But if you got the money then I would definitely get it!

It's hard to ignore the detail DI gives you. Having the ability to dissect structure and cover from the bow is powerful IMHO.

I have both, and mapping for off shore fishing. 2D and down image compliment each other quite nicely.

i prefer DI over 2D but up front i think 360 trumps DI. id rather see whats ahead and around me than what im already on top of.
