BBass said something that I thought was pretty interesting Wednesday night. He said that the Spots he cleaned a few days ago were ALL still full of eggs. Whats up with this???

Not unusual... just like humans, not every fish can find a mate. Plus some species (such as bluegill) will actually spawn multiple times in a year (just like some birds nest more than once each year, or squirrels have multiple litters). I'm honestly not sure about spots, but they might?

It is mother natures way of protecting the black bass species. In east Tenneessee, Black bass will spawn from march through June. By the spawn being spread over such a long cycle, complete loss of year classes are less likely to occur due to spring floods or cold spells. Also the late hatch provides an increased forage base for the earlier spawned bass fry that survive. Bass are predators and will eat what is readily available, including their cousins.
