Okay, I got sucked in.... After my son got me a new Shimano Citica reel for Christmas (what an awesome kid!!!!) I ran RIGHT down to Walmart and bought a box of Power Pro. Bought the hi vis yellow/green, 8lb dia/30lb test. I spooled it onto that new reel and went fishing with my Dad. It is a bit more supple right out of the box. Threw it 30 min before I threw off the first loop. It does the same in my opinion on rats nests, but does not crease or get damaged as does new spider wire. 2jigs was correct, the older, worn in spiderwire does work well. I'm likin' it, but kinda/sorta think it's about par with Spider. My .02

NA the next time you get a hankerin to try some new braid give the Spiderwire Ultracast a shot. It is a totally new and different and I might add, better Spiderwire than anything they have ever had.

Cheez is right... I love the new Spiderwire Ultracast and now they are selling it in a CLEAR invisible version. I just ordered some from BPS the other day. Haven't gotten it in yet but I have some of the green ultracast on a couple spinning reels and it casts great, with none of the problems of the old braid. Here is the link:

I figured I would throw in my two cents. I think I've had just about every braid available the last few years. Suffix braid by far is the most durable and round. It does cost quite a bit more than PowerPro or Spider Wire. Stren Superbraid is almost as good, but does snap occasionally as does PowerPro. I have also found that 40 pound PowerPro is not quite as shock resistant as Super Braid or Suffix. I fish braid 80% of the time here in MN jig fishing around structure and heavy vegetation. When I replace my braid in the coming year, it will likely be with Suffix, even though my wallet is going to feel it. :)
