Everybody always posts pictures of their monster bucks and that's great. But some of us are just as proud as our little bucks. emoThumbsup

It was a "if it's brown, it's down" hunt. Too bad for this guy that I couldn't get a clean shot at the two or three does he was tagging along with.

I've been in the deer woods three days this year, and this is deer #2. That is some kind of record for me... I'm like Fat Albert, usually my limit is one (Note: not one buck a year but one "deer" a year).

This spike came courtesy of a kind hunting invitation from Spurhunter. He invited me, drove me there and then directed me to his treestand. Except for the "pulling the trigger" part, this is really Spur's deer. But I am the one who will be collecting the Summer Sausage from Deermasters. emoBigsmile

Way to go any deer is a trophy. No matter how you took it . I think a lot of hunters forget that and it is all about the horns to them not the experiance. I got to meet you on the opening day of duck season in the Foodlion parking lot, hope you guys had a great hunt an Ross did not kill all the ducks. Again way to go a lot of good eating ahead for you and the family.

Richard I am right there with you. Before the state of Arkansas went to a three point rule on one side any legal three inch horn was the rule. I have shot my share of meat deer like that one. emoThumbsup I tend to feel they actually taste better. I use to take anything buck wise on the first one and then went for a bigger older one. Now I just try for two legal with three points at least on one side.

Congrats, I will bet your spike will taste to you just as good if not better then Churly's ten point to him. emoToast Jmax

Nice job Richard,I would much rather eat a young deer than one of those older tough monster racks. I takes a lot of skill to outsmart those older wiser deer, but for food, I would go doe or young buck every time.

Sounds like Spurhunter (Eric) did a great job getting you in the woods where you would have a chance for a shot.

Regards, Norman
