Spinning rod for small cranks and scatter raps

Looking at getting a 7' medium action spinning rod for throwing small speed traps and some new scatter raps. I think my current bait casting rods may be a bit too much especially with the lighter crank baits. I tend to get shorter casts and backlash if there is any wind with these baits. I was wondering if anyone on here used spinning rods for small cranks and what kind of rods you use? I have a 6'6" medium action and some other 6'6" med-heavy's but i think some extra length will help me with longer casting, which is why i was looking at the 7'er. any recommendations? emoThanks

I like ML, say like a St.Croix Premier, 7 ft for scatter raps. I have not thrown speed traps much but do use the same rod with similar sized Norman DTN.
