I HAVE BEEN READING ALL THE ARTICLES ABOUT SPOONING BELOW THE DAM, WELL I TRIED IT OR AT LEAST I THOUGHT I DID? NOT SURE. I FISHED LAST WEEKEND, I THINK IT WAS THE SAME DAY OF THE TERUMENT BUT LATER IN THE EVENING. THERE WAS 2 TURBINES RUNNING, I MAD SEVERAL CASTS INTO THE RUSHING WATER AND LET MY LINE DRIFT BUT HAD NO LUCK. I WAS JUST WONDERING IS THE THE METHOD EVERYONE ELSE USES OR AM I DOING SOMETHING WRONG. ANY ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED
. THANKS

The spooning most of us are doing is vertical jigging. Spoons designed for this type of fishing are called jigging spoons and come in all sorts of weights and styles. I use the Cotton Cordell spoons in 3/4 oz and 3/8 oz. The technique ususally involves jigging the spoons around structure or drop offs in the 8-20 foot depth range. Some of us also cast the spoons and retreive them in a hard upward jerk and let the fall to the bottom and repeating.

I think most of the spoon caught fish are coming from down river a little ways from the dam. I went fishing from the bank Sunday, about half way between the dam and the RR bridge. I was throwing a grub and didnt do any good. Two latino guys were catching the heck out of White Bass and a Smallie or Spot every now and then. They were using small 2" Hopkins spoons. There was only 1 turbine on at the time. They were getting pretty big Whites.
