MY SPORTSMASTER IS LEAKING A LITTLE FROM A DRAIN HOLE UP FRONT.THE DRAIN HOLE IS LOCATED BY THE SHIFT SHAFT.IT HAS TO BE THAT SEAL.LUCKILY I WENT AND GOT ONE AFTER WORK TODAY.12.00 FOR A SEAL THE SIZE OF AS DIME. emoEvil

Takes a special tool to remove the bushing to knock out the seal. You can buy one for like $17. Don't feel tempted to use a chisel. That is probably the most commonm seal on any mercury to leak.
the shift shaft seal is a one way/one lip seal thus it will vent pressure out or burb oil out sometimes, just be careful when you fill to not overfill the gearcase. wait until ALL the lube quits coming out of the vent before you put the vent screw in. I have seen people replace the shiftshaft seal and next trip out same thing
