Spotlight isn't working in 12v cigarette plug

Spotlight works in truck, 12v plug works in boat, spotlight doesn't work in boat emoScratch

When I plug it into the boat, the plug has a red LED that lights up, but when I push the button the red LED goes off, and the light doesn't come on. Any ideas? Boat is an 08 ZX250.

I thought it might be pulling too many amps, but wouldn't the fuse blow and the plug not work anymore if that was the case. Any help is appreciated.

CLEAN all the metal on the plug and the 12volt plug-in, using fine sandpaper. emory board, etc. Doesn't take much to have a bad connection.

i agree with buzz, you may have a bad ground connection on the plug, the ground will be the metal outer part, not the center point on the tip. just like a loose ground on yourcar or truck, lights will come on but when trying to start...everything goes dead. also may try turning the plug for the light 90 degrees after plugging in.
