Springfield XDS .45 vs. S&W M&P shield .40

I'm looking for a smaller carry gun and have narrowed it down pretty much to these two. Besides the fact that the .45 will knock a heck of a lot bigger hole in anything you shoot with it, what are the pro's and con's anyone has experienced with these guns?

My brother in law has the xds. I've probably put a box or so thru his. It's a great shooting gun. Haven't dealt any with a shield yet. Good luck.

You might want to check the serial number on the xd. There has been a recall on some of them.

Yeah I should have mentioned that too. I also think some of the shields were recalled too.

I just bought my first glock. I got the 19 9mm and have been very pleased with it so far.

I carry a glock 22 now but they are near impossible to conceal. I've seen the recalls on both and they seem to be resolved pretty easy.

Check out the g23 if you like the 22. It's a little smaller frame and I can conceal it. It's my daily carry.

Well another thing that is making me steer away from Glock is how thick they are. That's what impresses me about the XDS and the Shield. They are a bigger caliber bullet but the frame isn't massive.

I second the glock 19 9mm and I also like the tarus tcp 380 very small and easy to hide

I'll look at the Glocks again then. I can't complain about the one I have, it's just bulky.

I was never a glock guy till a few months ago. Heck I was never a pistol guy until a few years ago. I shoot it well and feel that if I needed it, it would not fail me. Remember everybody is different. Don't get something that will feel like a hassle or burden to carry, it will discourage you from carrying it.

I bought my first one on a whim. I just turned 21 and wanted to buy a pistol. Walked into Benton after a 1911 and walked out with a glock.
