Been trying to get my brother in law out on the lake for a while and he finally called me about twelve, said he had the afternoon free. Put in at Guild ramp and headed up stream to a spot where I've been catching some crappie. Water temp was 50 degrees and hardly any current, at times we drifted upstream with no wind. There were a lot of fish staked up on a couple of rock piles that I marked on my depth finder but they just wouldn't do their part. We caught about ten crappie, three were short and they all went back to fight another day. Had a lot of little pecks at the bait or they would catch the tail of the jig and just hold it for a second like they were just playing with it. Tried lots of different colors and different weight jigs, nothing turned them on. Weather and lack of current is my guess. Also caught a couple spotted bass in the pound and a half range and a carp that I hooked in the tail fin that had to be ten or twelve pounds. Took ten minutes to get it in on 4 lb. test, wore me out. We pulled out about four and headed down below the dam and caught some white bass off the bank on white grubs and spoons. Worley lives five minutes from the dam and has never fished there before. I think he's hooked.
