Several guys have asked about the grass lately, so here is a report on the Nick. There is grass, and there are fish in and around the mats, I know because I saw several, but they won't bite. Started about noon and was going to put in at Raccoon Mt. but the ramp is closed because they're using the parking lot to stage material and equipment for an outage. Don't know how long that will last. Headed down to Sullivan's and two boats were coming out. Talked to those guys, one had been up river and the other had been down, they had managed only a couple of shorts. So I thought I'd try the lower end and headed to MCP. Started about 1:30 and threw everything I could think of and managed one short spot. About an hour before sundown I was working a mat near the closed down welcome center and a monster bass burst through the mat and preformed some wild acrobatics, had to be 6 lb. or more. Left a hole in the mat about a 18 in. across, and just out of my range. Frogged that area and got nothing. Saw fish breaking on another mat a little farther out and moved to it. Had a couple hit at it but didn't take it, then I had a good blow up and missed it. A few minutes later I had another and caught a 2 and 3/4 lb. keeper. The fish were feeding there for maybe 45 minutes and then they just turned off. Got back to the ramp just before dark and there were three other boats loading out. Talked to them and it was the same story, a few shorts or nothing at all. The lake was at or near full pool with little current and the temp was 70 to 75. As the water cools it'll pick up, I think it'll pick up. Do any of you guys think it'll pick up? Somebody please tell me it's going to pick ---------- screw it, I'm going to Weiss Thursday.

Was down there Sunday and caught em ok. Between my buddy and myself we lost 4 grown ones ( just dumb mistakes) . I found the water to be cooler. It was 66-69 Sunday. Nickajack can be a strange lake, not sure why but it's always been pretty moody at times. Hang in there. You'll get em. .
