<font size="2">I love the big G!</font></p><font size="2">
Hooked up with my buds from Big Daddy's again, Don and Skyler to scout totally new waters to me. I have never been on the G further down than the fast waters of Nick dam. In fact, I really don't even know where we launched from. emoLaugh
We were on a mission to find spawning holes, and we looked under every rock, stump, seawall and other we could find in a 10 mile radius. The day was looking bleak after at least 20 forays into the water for me and Skyler, until one spot turned up a "thump" for me. We had found a catfish! Although it was a small one, at least we something to work with now. I put Skyler working on this fish and decided to check for any other holes nearby. I found another small fish, and after a few minutes Sky and I changed holes trying to extract each other fish. I finally dug enough rocks and dirtout of my hole that the fish said, "NO MORE" to my reaching into its home and scooted out on me. No worries, we still had Sky's fish holed up. </p>
I eased into deeper water while he worked his, and immediately found a gaping hole, easing down to check it, I came up hollering to Sky to hurry and leave that baby fish alone and get this big fish! Sky went in and his left arm was engulfed almost to his elbow!! It jerked him hard against the opening of the hole and Skyler knew this was the fish he had been waiting for. He went down a couple times, trying to get the fish in position to get a good hold on him, and while doing that I eased around again, and could not believe it but 8 feet away was another cave! I was pretty sure these two holes connected together. I went in and promptly got hit, dragging the fish to the entrance, and then I turned him loose pushing him back in to give Skyler the chance to catch this one. Now we had a dilemma, We had to huge entrances, and only two noodlers. If we left one un-blocked, with agitated fish, it could escape at any moment. The solution....Don had to get wet with us and block a hole so Sky and I could tag-team the fish. This meant, no camera for this fish.
We put Don in front of the first hole and Sky came over to mine. Sky went down a couple times, getting bit pretty good and almost had it out. I knew it was close, so I told them I just HAD to try and get video of this. I set the camera on the edge of Don's boat and hoped it would get a decent view.So thenSky took a deep breath, and I was even assisting by trying to push down on him as he went under!emoLaugh After what seemed like forever, and feeling thrashing going on under water, Skyler busted out of the water with flathead in hand! I lunged over and helped bear-hug the fish as we hauled it to the boat. It turned out to be a fat 34lb beast. And it was all on video! Whoot-whoot. Too cool I tell ya.
Lots of pics and reliving the battle for his dad and I, Skyler revived the fish and we watched it swim off. </p>
Since we had dropped several of my noodlin rods we use when fish get too far back in the holes, I went on the hunt to find them. I probed the hole Don had blocked for us, and while I was down there,I was shocked to feel another fish! I cam up and told them, "hey guys hurry over here!" </p>
Don ran his Nikon camera from teh boat this time, while Skyler blocked the bottom hole. I went down three times, each time getting the fish near the entrance, but could not hold on to it. The fourth time, I finally got ahold of its bottom jaw, and when I did, it clammped down hard three times on me! I was out of breath, but the adrenalin rush easily fixed that, and gave me enough to bull-dog the fish out of the hole, and as I came up I was yelling for Skylers help! He dove over and helped me this time and we heaved him to the boat. For just a few moments, I had assumed it might be Sky's fish, having gone straight back into the hole, when I saw how massive it was lying in the bottom of that pretty Triton boat, I could not believe it! This fish dwarfed my 42lb fish from last year! emoDance emoDance emoDance emoDance </p>
After some hootin and hollerin, high fives and such, we got it to land for pics and weights, SIXTY ponds of FAT flathead! WOW. The pics do NOT do this beast justice, even as big as it looks in them. We released the big bruiser to hopefully be caught again, and once again I went on the hunt for my missing rods. I happened on a hole, reached in and felt another fish! I thought I would work this one, and after the second time going in the fish busted through my grips and took off. While we were laughing about that one, I moved just 2-3 feet to my left and found ANOTHER hole....and ANOTHER fish! Unreal folks, I called Skyler over to get this one. I went back to the hole Sky had caught his out to make sure it really was empty this time! emoLaugh
I was under water and I heard Skylerlet out a guttural UUUMPF!!!!....I shot out of the water telling Don, "Hes got one!" Sky came up with a funny look and no fish. emoScratch

<font size="2">Me: What happened?
Sky: He bit me!!
Me: And?....that's whats supposed to happen.
Sky: He bit the crap out of me, but on the side of my forearm! emoHoppingmad

<font size="2">Sure enough that joker had chomped him good right below his elbow...I told him later after looking at it, "yup, that'll leave a mark"emoDoh </font></p><font size="2">
Sky went down again after him, and all of a sudden, I had a fish charging out of the hole through MY arms! That dang fish had come through an passage to the hole I was checking! emoDoh emoDoh emoDoh
We decided we'd had enough excitement, and called it a day while the adrenalin high was still in effect. I told them both, "This was more fun than should be legal"</p>
So in closing....<font color="#ff0000" size="3"><u>I LOVE THE BIG G!!</u></font>
