Took Friday off to get some projects done but just had to hit the river for some morning fishing. Ray met me at the ramp with his boat, and the search for bait was on. TVA running 40+ so it was tricky, and the bait eluded us this day.

Off to Jacks for shiners. Tried a couple spots, and when we hit "the spot" it was ON FIRE. My first three casts produced two 4lb and a 6 lb smallie! I was a little pumped up at this point, and Hunter and Raymond were puzzled. We ended up with 8-9 smallies, a few LM, spots, white bass, a blue cat, and skipjack. Its hard to beat live bait below the dam when you find the fish. The biggest smallie was close to 22" and FAT, huge shoulders on this fish.

Day two was me, Heath and his young daughter Kylie. We grabbed bait on the way this time, but Heath threw the net a millin times in all his favorite spots, but produced nothing we were looking for. TVA was again running 40K +, so more of the same. We launched as Richard Simms was pulling in due to lightning in the area, e of course, headed out to fish.

Pulled into the spot we hammered the fish Friday, my first two casts produced on 4 lb smallie, and a short. What are the odds of that happening again! Fourth cast produced a nice LM. The real surprise was Heaths daughter getting twice the bites we each got, she lost a bunch of fish due to poor hookset, and broke off a GIANT smallie, but landed a ton of fish. I again caught a smallie almost 22", but was much skinnier than Fridays, I'm not complaining. We ended with a great mix once again, Smallies, LM, spots, white bass, skipjack but no cats today. We got ran off the water twice due to the storms, but still managed to use all our bait. We stayed anchored in one spot the entire time we fished, using 6-8lb test freelining large shiners. Man I sure love the light gear live bait fishing, nothing like it.
