WOW, what a great day!</p>

Me and Hal have been tryin to get out together for many months, and today it all came together and we had a super trip.</p>

I wanted to show him what a great place the Riverpark is to fish with threadfins, and today was stellar. </p>

</p>

Hal made the first cast about 11:00 and hung a nice blue to start the day, I told him since he first-fished me, I would have to big-fish him!emoLaugh </p>

</p>

With-in 45 mins I think we had at least 8 cats and many lost fish, and missed strikes. We moved a lot today, trying areas up and down several miles of river, and different bridge pilings. We caught fish at every single place we tried...no kidding. When the bite slowed,we just moved on. Hal hung a beast that I wasnt surehe would get in, and it turned out to be a nice 10lb blue, quite a battle on the light gear, and I was getting worried I was not going to big-fish him!!</p>

I caught my first TARP smallie right at 20" offrip-rap, what a hoot! I caught another later at a bridge at 17.5". We caught spots,LM and channels at those bridges as well. We had a streak of loosing fish there at the end of the day, and we were determined to each catch a fish before we left. Hal caught a final channel cat, and then I hung a fish, and said, "Good fish Hal, good fish!" After a long battle in the dark on my light action rod loaded with 6lb Mr Crappie line, we finally got the 26lb Blue in the net! 35" TARP to end the day!</p>

I did hang a bigger fish earlier, but only had it on for about 10 seconds before breaking my off.emoBang emoBang </p>

I think we ended with about 25-30 cats, 3 gar, and around 15-20 bass of assorted variety. TONS of fun on the light gear hearing those drags screeming! Water was around 79*, and TVA was runnig a constant 10500 CFS I think. PERFECT weather for fishing! </p>

Hal has several pics to add when he gets on. oh I almost forgot about poor Hal keeping tradition alive and essentially falling out of the boat while beaching it at Riverpark to get some drinks.....I will let him recount it for you!emoLaugh </p>

We did hang all day, leaving at 8:40pm. I even called, "last cast" on the big cat!emoBigsmile </p>

That's fantastic guys!!! I'm so glad you got a boat Spur! It's nice to see you hauling them in. And really glad Hal had a "stellar" day. He was sure due and has paid his dues of lack luster ones on a number of trips we went on this past year. Just wish I had been with you guys. VERY nice smallies. Very nice..... Now you are going to have to teach Hal how to throw a net. He'll be ruint!

Well I gotta start this off by saying "We had a ball!" Really enjoyed the day "and the night"
emoThumbsup emoBigsmile I knew I'd have fun when Spur called as asked if I wanted to go with him and it wasn't a let down. We saw several CFF's out today but you guys need CFF stickers so that I can be sure. Always come by to say "Hi" if you see me on the water,
Spur said he was gonna "big fish" me for the day since I caught the 1st fish on the 1st cast. Only thing I didn't realize was we were gonna stay all night if he had to in order the get that "big fish" emoBigsmile He did say he had conceded the big fish as my 10 lb'er then said, in the next sentence,
"last cast" and that's when he caught the big 'un, emoThumbsup It was a struggle and he had to sit down after it was over to catch his breath, emoRolleyes
The "falling out of the boat" didn't go exactly that way, emoEek I was trying to keep his plastic boat from hitting the rocks too hard so I stepped out onto a rock that was slicker than it looked and went half way down, emoMad Still had hold of his railing on the front of the boat which bent so one is now lookin' for the fish as he goes across the lake, emoUpsmile I only got my feet and butt wet so not too bad, emoEek I did stop the boat before it hit the rocks emoTongue
We had some good pullers today that streched our mono pretty good, emoThumbsup
One other comment, Spur can put that cast net out there almost every time in a perfect circle and one of the casts netted nearly a hundred shad, most I've ever seen in one cast, emoWorthy emoDance

Well the rock didn't look that slick and it was flat, emoScratch so I thought I'd be OK but when 200 lbs on a slick tennis shoe, (could it have been the catfish slime on the shoe,? Nnaaaawww!) hit that rock it just didn't stick, emoBigsmile I don't think I said anything bad, I tried not to anyway, 'course Spur will probably tell a different story, emoSmile
I thought I was gonna have to revive him after all the laughing he did and it should have
been the other way 'round, emoScratch After all it was his plastic boat I was tryin' to save, emoCool

Well Dickie,
I had a blast, don't get me wrong but every time I'd pick up a rod with a jig Spur would move the boat, not just around a little but down to the next bridge, emoScratch
Those natural bait shad ARE hard to beat though and Spur can throw that net to get 'em emoThumbsup He did outfish me on those two smallies, those were beautiful fish, emoTongue emoThumbsup
