I have an aluminum prop on my boat. What would be the advantages of going stainless. How much would I benefit as far as speed, hole shot etc. Thanks in advance guys
Scott

Aluminum will flex when you give it gas.So let's say you have a 19 pitch prop but when you start to take off the metal will bend and change the pitch of the prop to let's say 20 or 21.How much exactly I don't know but it only hurt's your hole shot. Then after your on your way it will return back to it's original shape.SS prop's do not flex under a load That's why SS prop's are the way to go.If you have a bass boat you want a SS prop for a bass boat, there is a big differance.Bass boat prop's have narrow blades for quick rpm's and less drag at top speed and large boat's need wide blades to grab more water.I can say you will gain on both hole shot and top end but just how much exactly, you will have to find out by trial and error.

If stainless gives you more hole shot than an aluminum, my boat would flip over backward with a stainless prop. Guess I'll stay with the aluminum.

If you guys that are running the alum blades with the omc motors and want to step up one pitch and don't want to loose your hole shot. I have the answer to that. It was tested and approved by OMC back in the days of the big motors and plenty of low cost fuel

OMC put out a bulletin on just that subject and I have the paper to show where the holes need to be drilled in the edge of the hub to allow the exhaust to exit the motor so you can bring the rpm's up a little faster.
This only helps with hole shot it doesn't do anything for speed. If any one wants a copy just e-mail me and I'll send it your way. Be sure to add prop holes in the subject line so I will recognize it as a legit mail. I look at all my mail on the server before I send it on to my puter.
I have tried this on alum and stainless and it works well.
