Hello everyone. I am new here...just joined a few minutes ago. My name is Alan. Cheez is a friend of mine and he told me about this website. I am 56 years old, have three children and 7 granchildren. My Dad was an avid fisherman and he loved to fish the Tennessee River. Dad was my fishing partner until he got sick. I just about quit fishing because he could not go. The boat sat under the carport for four years without being moved. Dad passed away on Jan. 1, 2007 and my younger brother and sister wanted me to have the boat. They never fished with Dad very much. I just could not bring myself to go fishing after his passing but I recently decided that Dad would not want for me to totally quit fishing. Two weeks ago I started getting the boat ready to go. A new trailer was purchased and the motor put in the shop. I told the mechanic to do whatever it takes to get her back in good running condition. I've put new line on the reels, bought a couple of new rods and the new beginning is almost at hand. I am really itching to get back out on the water I loved so much for so many years. My boat is a 18' Carolina skiff and is one of the most stable fishing boats I have ever been in. Thanks Dad for buying her. I hope to get to share some fishing time with some of ya'll. It always really great to meet new friends that have the great outdoors in common. God Bless.....
Alan

that is great that you are going to get back in the water. I just bought a boat 2 yrs ago and started fishing with my 9 yr old son. We have learned alot together and have had some great times on the water.

Let me know if you ever need a partner. I would be glad to get a line wet with you.

Welcom Alan.I too lost my fishing partner, it took several years to be able to find a way to enjoy fishing again,my son who is now 13
is my new fishing partner,I personaly think finding someone that has never fished befor was the ticket for me,teaching them all the tricks my partner had taught me,watching them catch thier first fish, making the same mistakes I did,was as enjoyable as catching fish myself.

Welcome to the forum. I know some of my fondest days have been ones I spent on the lake with my father. Unfortunately, he has been spending all his recent time caring for my mother, who is suffering from terminal cancer.

I remember days when I fished with my Dad. Some of the best memories of my childhood. Unfortunately, my father fell victim to one of life's worst maladies. He took up golf. Little wonder I have no use for that hobby. Welcome to the board cathooker.

Good to have ya & as Foodsaver said a fried of Cheese is a friend of mine. I think getting back out on the water will be good therapy. I lost my father in my arms to a massive heart attack & it took a long time to come to terms with things. But as you said I'd think he would want you to get back out there & catch a big one. He'll be right beside you.. Good luck & looking forward to your first report.

Welcome to CFF and welcome back to fishing.  You should know that your Dad would not have it any other way.  Get that boat Sea-worthy and make Dad proud. </p>
