starting promblem please help

i have 73 merc 20 hp i pull the pull cord about 6 times it fires up but don't stay started i changed the spark plugs does any body know what the problem is please tell me or just point me in the right direction thanks

You probably just need to rebuild the carburator if this is what it has, it is stopped up, get a can of Berryman's B-12 and take the carb apart and clean all the little pieces with the B-12, then put it back together. Also check the fuel filter and primer bulb before doing the carb.

My favorite analytical tool is a can of WD 40. Spray in carb throat when it fires and if it keeps running it is a fuel problem.
