steering issue

I have an old double rack steering sys and was wondering if its possible to go to a single rack system

A double is usually required on 150 hp or higher. If you have ever had a single cable, and it broke ( like I used to ) you will wish for the double.

Only one of my cables are bad but they are Detmar and they dont make them anymore. Do you know any that will replace them without swapping the whole system out?

You will either have to find a used cable (ebay) or swap out the entire system. It is a safety issue with the double cable system. I don't know of any cable manufactures that pick up making replacement for Detmar. They were very popular in the 80's.

Just figured out who you were! LOL!!! Getting closer to starting your monster! You WILL need dual steering. There is no way a single cable will be able to handle the kind of torque that your Modified V-6 will be producing when we are done!

Yeah im ordering a new system now! I would guess steering might be kind of important with that beast hanging off the back of my boat! lol
