Today on my way back in, I was making my final left turn when the wheel turned left easier than usual but the motor did not turn with the wheel. I had to shut it down. Luckily my wife was with me and she turned the wheel while I turned the motor by hand. I couldn't turn the motor by myself. She had to be turning the wheel to the left in order for me to be able to turn the motor. Anyway, It still turns to the right some but will not turn left at all. The wheel turns but not the motor. Just wondering what I should do? Is this something that I should tackle myself or should I take it to a professional? Thanks for any input on this issue. Hope to get it fixed by next Saturday's tournament. Jarrott

Steering cable time. If you have never done it a pro should either do it or help you do it.

Yep steering cable.. Just be glad you wasn't flying when it happened. Saw a guy lose one at a blast off one day and it wasn't pretty!

If you aren't really really mechanically inclined I would seek help on this one. Probably replace both cables and have them adjusted correctly. Hope it works out for you!

Wow I bet that was scary. Luckily I was going slow around the "S" curves in Mud Creek when she quit turning. Not too far from the ramp. I used the trolling motor to get me in line with the trailer then fired the big motor up and got her loaded just fine. I think I'll call a guy named Bo Bates here in Dayton and see if he can get me fixed up. I hope I can get her fixed by Sat. If not I'll have to take the jon boat. Jarrott

While we're on the subject , I have a 16' alum. boat without power tilt & trim ,
I have adjusted the motor every way I can but it pull's to the right so bad you can never take your hands off the wheel when on plane. Any Ideas?

May help to put a hydro foil on it, or external trim kit...Or do lots of curlsemoPoke

Glad you are safe. Thanks to the drag on that right side. If you were torqueing it up and the cables went, your boat would spin out of control and flip or at minimum throw you out and run over you, That is why you always wear your safety kill lanyard.

You need new cables. You can put those on for yourself.

Is that Hydrolic steering still available for Foodsaver? If you loose steering with Hydrolics, It will stay in place.

Thank you sir, me too! I looked under the dash and I see that the cable goes into a round housing but other than that I have no idea what is involved in taking that apart and installing new cables. Plus where would I get the cables? Thanks, Jarrott
Not sure what you mean to say here --> "Is that Hydrolic steering still available for Foodsaver?"

I ordered a whole new Pretech Rotary Steering System Package from iboats.com this morning. 102.70 shipped. Not too bad I guess. Comes with:
Pretech rotary helm
Steering cable
90 degree bezel
Mounting hardware

Should be here Thursday and hope to get in on asap.

Finally got it fixed! I ordered the wrong length and had to send it back to get the right length. I'm so happy now. Just in time for Another Bite's tx on the bar Friday night. :)
