I have a 1990 OMC stern drive. I have begun to hear a rattle when running. I know a good mechanic certified on Mercruisers but not OMC's. He told me it would be either the univeral joint or gimbal bearing and to listen for the sound and see if it got worse when turning. If it did it would be the universal joint, if not it would be the gimbal bearing. I have tested and it appears to be the gimbal bearing. Do any of you know a good, honest, reasonable OMC mechanic?
