Been seeing lots of smaller 8's and 9's, but still have been holding the trigger for this guy. The rut is just now beginning to kick in here on the mountain. I have heard lots of deer vocalization this year. Last week I had a mature buck snort/wheeze at me while I was bleating and grunt calling.

Glad to see other people that like to what a few to Churly. We have had our place for 9 years now. It is amazing what good management can do. We are very fortunate to have a low density of hunters. Our members are required to remove a certain number of does based on the biologist reccommendation for the year , plenty of venision. This year is 20 does for 1,800 acres. Bucks with deformed horns are culled. Only mature bucks are to be shot. We only allow two bucks per year per member. Killing a sub-par deer comes with significant consiquences. If a member kills a sub-par buck, they are done hunting for bucks for 1 calender year plus $100.00. You have to pay good attention to the buck prior to shooting. No ground checking. Pays off though I have some additional photos of similar deer. I also have this deer on camera from last year. Incredible at the difference. I am forever a believer in QDMA. I have also heard that Alabama may even be going to tags within the next few years.

Where do you hunt, Alabama, Tenn, or GA? I hunt AL, and am very glad that the state is taking the right steps in deer mangment. Thats a very nice buck.
