I am about to get my feet wet again, and become a boat owner again, kids are old enough now and want to go fishing all the time...anyone know anything about the Stratos 186XT? looking for new, entry level price range - was thinking aluminum, til I heard about this rig, any opinions?

They are a sweet looking boat, I was in between that boat and the boat I bought a g3 190 eagle. THey have a ton of room in them and they will scoot along pretty good with the max 115. I would get that boat with the 115, the 90 would have to work pretty hard to push that boat according to the dealer where I looked at them. Plus your resale would be alot easier with 115 THe deal that yamaha is running right now is great and extra three years of warrenty. THat would be 5 years on the 2 strokes and 6 on the four strokes. They are a nice boat and if you want a glass rig you cant beat the price. I just wanted a aluminum rig that is why I went with the G3.

Buy a 21 foot Carolina Skiff with a 115 HP Suzuki like the one in my picture for around $16,300.00, plenty of room and you can take the whole neighborhood with you when you go fishing, capacity is 16 people, does 42 MPH with 2 people.

I've looked at those and really like them. Nice and roomy and the front deck is also pretty big. CHeck out the triton 18' Explorer series. They are in the same ballpark pricewise.

I have a 176XT and love it. It has a maximum hp rating of 75 but I have a 50 on it. Dont take the dealer word on hp for the boat. Look at the stratos specs. On my boat uping the hp to a 75 only increased the boat speed by 3 mph. Not worth the extra gas to me. I love the storage and stability of this boat. Aluminum rigs cannot compare to the stabilty. Check on the posters and video with the the three guys standing on the gunwale of a tracker and then on the stratos. The tracker was nearly under water and the stratos is upright. Let me know if you need anything else on the performance of these boats. I am 110% statisfied in mine.
